I’ve played a lot of The Old Republic since I first got my early access. I’ve managed to reach level 35 and am now part-way through Chapter 2 of the Sith Warrior storyline. I’ve been granted the title of Sith Lord, have my own starship and 5 different companions. I’ve loved every minute  of it, and it’s been great really digging into an MMO like this again. Though I did enjoy my time with EVE and APB (and I will continue to play this, to some capacity) I just haven’t been sunk in to this extent since World of Warcraft. I’ve done lots of bonus missions, daily Space Combat missions and generally as much of the side planet quests as I want to. I’ve still got a lot that I’ve not experienced on certain planets (I’ve not managed to find many Holocrons or Datacrons as of yet..) but I can’t wait to go back and explore these when I decide to give the story a break.

Though that is becoming increasingly hard to do, as this is one of the best story lines in a game I’ve experienced in a long time, and it’s in an MMO.

WARNING: Here be Spoilers! I talk about events in the Sith Warrior Storyline.

The final, and probably most loved personally, of the games I’m blogging about in this series has lore that has been set up since the 80’s. It gave birth to a lot of games in both table top and video game variety. It’s still popular to this day, and I personally am still a collector. The game itself was something I had waited for, I had followed it since it’s announcement and I was eager to play it for the first time. After doing so, it wasn’t just my favourite game of that universe, but one of my favourite games of the entire year and one of my favourite Third-Person Action titles. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine.

For my second blog about the Underrated games of this year, I’ve decided to go for one that generally did well, but not as well as I believe it should have. It didn’t have as much success as it’s predecessor and I feel that this isn’t warranted. It improved over the original in many ways, the marketing campaign was large and fairly good. (Aside from the movie that came with it, which was frankly a disappointment.) However, even with favourable reviews and a general feeling that it was a great game, it’s fallen into the shadow of other games this year. The game I’m talking about, is Dead Space 2.

Star Wars: The Old Republic

Although I didn’t spend as much time as I would have liked during the weekend Beta event that Bioware ran for Star Wars: The Old Republic, I did manage to have an extremely good time playing what I did. This is just a blog to round-up my experiences during that time and generally give across my impressions on what I think, is the most fun I’ve had in an MMO for a very long time.

Update 18/12/2011: After playing the full retail version of the game for a couple of days now, I’m actually loving the Sith Juggernaut class and I am right now, focusing solely on that character. I have no others at the moment and for the time being, I’m keeping it that way. I can see myself, in the future, trying out the other classes as well, but my main will be my Juggernaut. I’m already level 21 and having a blast, so you can look forward to hearing more about my exploits in The Old Republic soon enough.

I recently, against my own thoughts, bought the new Call of Duty game last week to see them wrap up the story and try out the multiplayer changes I felt may improve the game. While having fun with the multiplayer, I also enjoyed the campaign and finished it on Veteran after around 8 or so hours play. Although I was not disappointed, or regret my purchase, I do feel that I need to talk about my feelings about  the single-player campaign.

Warning to those that care, this will be full of Spoilers. You have been warned.
